About the Artist

I was born in 1970 in Hyogo, Japan. I graduated from the Department of Ceramics, Faculty of Education, National Okayama University in 1992. I was an apprentice potter in Tanba, Japan in 1993-1994. In 1994, I was a Visiting Artist, Shigaraki Ceramic Culture Park, Japan. In 1996, I established the Ceramics Studio in Miyamachi, Shigaraki. In 2000, I received the 11th Shumei Award, Japan Gold Prize. In 2003, I won the Special Jury Prize in the Flower Vase Competition held in Japan. In 2005, I was invited to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, USA as a visiting artist. In 2008-2012, I organized the “Shigaraki ACT” Art Event. In 2011, I published a book about the city and art, Tsuchi Tsunagi. Participated in Biwako Biennale exhibition (2012,2016,2018) Lecturer at Kyoto University of Arts (2014-) Gimhae Clayarch Museum (visiting artist) Gyeonggi International Ceramics Biennale (GICB) 2017 (invited) European Ceramics Center (EKWC) (invited) Taoxichuan-Jingdezhen International Studio (invited)
