Mehmet Kutlu graduated from the Ceramics-Glass Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Mimar Sinan University in 1998 as the top student of the faculty. He took his postgraduate projects and courses at the Ceramics Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University between 1998-2000. He completed his postgraduate studies with a thesis at the Ceramics Department of the Hacettepe University Institute of Fine Arts in 2012-2013. Kutlu worked under the supervision of Pietro Maddalena at the La Meridiana International Ceramics School (1997-1998) and also at the Ünal Cimit Studio between 1990-1993. The artist, who participated in numerous group exhibitions, has opened nine solo exhibitions. Mehmet Kutlu, who has been deemed worthy of many awards in competitions organized in the field of ceramic art, has received the Achievement Award at the State Ceramics Competition of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey in 1997-1998 and 2002-2012 among his awards. Mehmet Kutlu has made ceramic applications for many private institutions, both international and national. These include prestigious institutions such as Ankara Memorial Hospital and Bodrum Çırağan Kempinski Hotel. Mehmet Kutlu continues to work in his studio in Bodrum.
